WPSU is looking for an experienced events manager who can plan and oversee all aspects of WPSU’s large scale, complex events, such as the annual Connoisseur’s Dinner and Auction and the Wine Festival, as well as activities for PBS Kids educational events. This position reports to the Marketing Director and will work collaboratively across the business units of marketing, promotion, programming, development and finance. Responsibilities include developing timelines, adhering to budgets, executing creative themes and decorations for dinners and festivals, delivering educational children’s activities that represent the PBS brand, negotiating and managing speakers and entertainers, managing caterers, vendors and facilities, supervising on-site set-up and strike of venues and disseminating event reports. Must have excellent communications skills as a public representative of WPSU and maintain a positive rapport with Penn State units, board members, community partners, donors and volunteers. The successful candidate must possess exemplary project management and organizational skills and have an appreciation for working with diverse groups. A flexible schedule and willingness to travel within central Pennsylvania is needed to accommodate evening and weekend events. This position will operate a motor vehicle and will load and set up event props and materials. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus four years of related experience. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding. Penn State Public Media is seeking an Administrative Support Assistant for their video production and multi-media units. A significant part of this position is dedicated to arranging extensive and complex travel, as well as resolving complicated expenses. This position will plan, schedule and coordinate travel arrangements for staff and out of town guests. Other production related responsibilities include duplicating DVDs and CDs, coordinating and completing transcription requests. Administrative duties include preparing and processing financial documents, managing multiple calendars, arranging meetings, and scheduling conference rooms. This position will act as backup for other administrative assistants and receptionist. A successful candidate must be a self-starter who is very detail oriented, has excellent communication skills, provides exceptional customer service, and has the ability to work independently. Critical skills for this position include being proactive, the ability to manage multiple priorities, use of sound judgment, and analytical thinking skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, FileMaker Pro, Excel, IBIS and ERS are preferred. This job will be filled as a level 2 or level 3, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education and experience. Typically requires a High School diploma or higher plus one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 2. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. WPSU is a partner station for Keystone Crossroads, a Corporation for Public Broadcasting grant funded project. This is a collaborative radio project with WHYY in Philadelphia, WESA in Pittsburgh, and WITF in Harrisburg. More on the project at: http://www.cpb.org/pressroom/release.php?prn=1065 

The Keystone Crossroads Reporter is responsible for reporting on infrastructure, economic, legal and financial issues facing Pennsylvania cities. The ideal candidate is an engaging storyteller with strong reporting and writing abilities and journalism experience, preferably in radio, but also should have cross-platform experience/exposure. The reporter must be comfortable producing content for radio and the web, be able to write high quality text to supplement stories, have knowledge of audio editing software, and have the ability to appear on television and to participate in community engagement events. 

Reporter must be able to work flexible hours, have a valid driver's license and access to transportation as they are required to be on location at a story with little notice. This position demands a high level of creativity in attaining hard-to-get sources, and it is critical that the reporter is able to display good judgment in properly assessing the newsworthiness of a story as well as its appeal to the listener/reader. An understanding of how to obtain useful information through database focused research and use it to the benefit of an engaging story is strongly preferred. The position requires the ability to work effectively in a deadline driven environment. 

Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver's license and success completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.

Penn State Outreach and Online Education Learning Design has an opening for an Instructional Designer in the dynamic and evolving field of distance education. You will work collaboratively with faculty to design and develop online credit courses that reach Penn State's diverse population of distance education students. You will be a lead project manager, working with other members of your team to create high-quality fully online courses with a focus on student-centered learning. You will use a range of technology-enhanced systems to develop content for a variety of delivery modes, including Web pages, course management systems, and Web conferencing systems. This job will be filled as a level 2, level 3, or level 4, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires a Master's degree plus two years of work related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 2. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. A degree in Instructional Systems or Educational Technology is preferred. The job requires a solid understanding of the pedagogical principles of instructional systems theory; an enthusiastic application of existing and emerging educational technologies; and an in-depth understanding of instructional design issues related to teaching and learning in distance/online courses to demonstrate best practices, and effectively communicate to faculty the advantages and disadvantages of various pedagogical techniques and principles. You need solid communication and collaboration skills, and effective teamwork and project management experience. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.
