A Party Song for the Weekend: Macklemore’s “Thrift Shop”
Posted by Brittany Barth on 10/05 at 03:55 PM
Looking for a song to party to this weekend? I’ve got just the thing.
I recently stumbled upon the rapper known as Macklemore after a friend had posted one of his music videos on Facebook. The caption she posted along with the video intrigued me enough to click on the link and I couldn’t be happier that I did.
Macklemore, a Seattle-born rapper, is an emerging artist with a gift for creative (often hilarious) lyrics and music videos. He achieves these with this help of his producer, Ryan Lewis. The music video that appeared on my newsfeed was “Thrift Shop.” It showcases Macklemore’s outrageous sense of humor, the quality of his lyrics, as well as his skills as a rapper. The song has an old school hip-hop sound intermixed with new school rap. If that’s a combination you’re into then “Thrift Shop” is sure to leave you satisfied.
One thing is for sure, if Macklemore isn’t an artist you’ve listened to before, I guarantee that after hearing “Thrift Shop” he’s going to become one of your favorites. If you want to hear more of Macklemore, you can listen to all of his singles and albums on iTunes or Amazon.

Bio: My name is Brittany Barth, an English major currently in my senior year at Penn State. I am a lover of food, John Mayer, all things nautical and cats. It has always been a dream of mine to be the lead singer of a (successful) band. After graduation, my goal is to become a Young Adult fiction novelist, but I would love to be an advice columnist prior to that. I am excited about graduation and what the future holds for me!
