A Look at a Darker Time, A Celebration of Johnstown, and The End of an Era

TV: AMERICAN EXPERIENCE – Monday, 9pm – “My Lai” – This incisive documentary recalls the massacre of some 500 unarmed men, women and children by U.S. troops in 1968 Vietnam, detailing the events that led to the tragedy and the barbarity of the slaughter itself.

TV: FRONTLINE – Tuesday, 9pm – “The Vaccine War” – The controversy surrounding the vaccine regimen that young children face is examined. Although scientists and public-health officials say the many recommended inoculations are safe, a coalition of activists, parents and others say otherwise.

TV: GREAT PERFORMANCES – Wednesday, 8pm – “Hamlet” –David Tennant stars as the Danish prince who asks “to be, or not to be?” and Patrick Stewart as Hamlet’s uncle Claudius, who became king and married Hamlet’s mother (Penny Downie) following the death of Hamlet’s father.

TV: OUR TOWN: JOHNSTOWN 2010 – Thursday, 8pm – 11 years after the “Our Town” project visited “The Flood City,” an all-new production looks at the city once again through the lenses of the residents.

TV: BILL MOYER’S JOURNAL – Friday, 9pm – It’s the end of an era with a special 90-min edition of the news magazine.  This will be the last edition as Mr. Moyers, 76, is retiring from the series.
