Guest Artist: Danya Katok,voice

Danya Katok and Svetlana Rodionova are performing a guest recital on Friday, November 6 at 5:00 p.m. in Esber Recital Hall. Danya is a graduate of Penn State (’07 B.A. Music) and recently received her MM in vocal performance from the Peabody Conservatory. She was a district winner of the Metropolitan Opera
National Council Auditions in Vienna, Va. and competed in the Regional
Finals at the Kenndy Center in Washington, D.C. She was also a finalist in
the Civic Morning Musicals Competition for Singers, Syracuse, N.Y. and was
awarded the Ernst Bacon Price for Best Performance of an American Art song
for her performance of “To Susan Gilbert” by Juliana Hall. [12/04/08] Svetlana Rodionova, a native of St. Petersburg, Russia, earned her doctorate
from the Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatory. She has been the pianist for
“Music at Penn’s Woods” since 1994 and her playing can be heard on the
CD “American Tango” under the CALA Record label. The
recital will feature songs by Libby Larsen, Richard Strauss, Leonard
Bernstein, Hugo Wolf, Benjamin Britten, and Jonathan Harvey. Prior to her
recital, Ms. Katok will speak to the voice students at the weekly voice
forum held in room 110, Music Building I Fridays from 3:30-4:30 p.m.
