Penn State’s first women’s coaches

Lectures

12:00PM

By 1970, Penn State had one of the most extensive women’s athletics programs in the nation with 11 varsity sports.  This was 2 years before Title IX legislation.  By the mid 1970’s, Penn State offered a total of 14 varsity sports.  The women have gone on to thrive here at Penn State breaking records and winning national championships.

Join us on Wednesday, March 31st, at 12:00 noon in the Clemen’s Family Theater to hear firsthand accounts from a few of Penn State’s first women’s coaches; Mary Ann “Demi” Domitrovitz (basketball, 1970-74), Elizabeth “Betz” Hanley (gymnastics, 1969-1972), and Virginia “Ginny” Harpster (rifle, 1965).  The panel will be moderated by Jackie Esposito, Penn State University Archivist.
