Scotia-Lost in History
Community Events
7:00pm
The Scotia area was a significant part of the iron industry history of
Centre County spanning from the early 1800’s through to the 1940’s.
Scotia, itself, operated for 30 years beginning in 1880 with 250 workers
removing countless tons of iron ore using the latest technology of that era.
Scotia was a community as well – company housing, stores, post office,
and railroad station. Today it’s all but gone.
Presenter, Bob Hazelton, is part of a group currently researching Scotia
and trying to keep its history alive.
