Hello,
I signed up because I hear a great track too often and always forget to look up the title.
You played something just now; I believe I caught the name as Martin Scott w/ female vocalist, you had said something about celtic influences mixed with bengali percussion, I believe.
I was pulling in to my driveway and trying to type it up on my phone as fast as possible, but no luck.
Please help!

Hi! Going by the date and time of your post that would have been my show (Saturday night the 14th). But it’s possible the time and date posted here are incorrect. Anyway, I don’t have anything on my playlist matching your description. Can you tell me any other details about how the song sounded? In the meantime, here’s what I played from about 9:15 to 9:45 Saturday evening:

date/time played/artist/song title/album/label
11/14/2009   21:19:00     Tish Hinojosa   Con Su Pluma en Su Mano   Frontejas   Rounder
11/14/2009   21:23:00     Ian Tyson   Horsethief Moon   Eighteen Inches of Rain   Vanguard
11/14/2009   21:26:00     Tom Paxton   I Like the Way You Look   Comedians & Angels   Appleseed
11/14/2009   21:29:00     Sam Bush   Whisper My Name   Circles Around Me   Sugar Hill
11/14/2009   21:34:00         Scott Ainsle   Oil in My Vessel   Thunder’s Mouth   Cattail
11/14/2009   21:37:00     Tanglefoot   Hard Work   Dance Like Flames   Borealis
11/14/2009   21:42:00     Charivari   Knife Fight Reel   A Trip to the Holiday Lounge   Rounder

Hope this helps!

Yeah, it was definitely the Saturday show but, the sound is a bit fuzzy now.
All I can remember is the host talking about the composer being male (something, Scott) with guest female vocalist; something about celtic inspirations and some foreign nation supplying either the drummers or the ideas for them.

That Scott Ainsle selection sounds a promising lead, I’ll do some digging and post back whether I found it or not.

It’s appears I might have the wrong station all together, though.
I believe the host was male.

Does your show broadcast through NPR 88.9 in Luzerne County?

Edit: Did some checking. It’s not Scott Ainsle.
