William Blair, associate professor of history and co-editor, of Making and Remaking Pennsylvania’s Civil War, assembles ten essays that contain a wealth of new information about Pennsylvania during the war years. For example: perhaps as many as 2,000 Pennsylvanians defected to the Confederacy to fight for the Southern cause. The book includes stories about courage on the battlefield, but also reflects on the motivation of soldiers and the impact of war on civilians.
