Feature Segment:
Ridgway’s Culture

River House InteriorThe arts, historical buildings, craftsmanship, and antiques comprise a large part of Ridgway’s culture. Through the efforts of community members like Lessa Lamb, the formation of organizations like the Art’s Counsel can further promote and enhance Ridgway’s local arts. After witnessing the strong presence and enthusiasm for craftsmanship and the arts within Ridgway, Lessa Lamb saw a need for an organization that could help foster local artistic talent.

PaintingsContinuing to help the community, the Art’s Counsel continues to showcase local talent in the form of quilting, woodwork, oil painting, pottery, and other tangible art forms. Through Lamb’s brief exploration of the town's arts and crafts in this “Our Town” video, one discovers Ridgway’s enthusiasm and support for artistic activity.

While the arts comprise a large part of Ridgway life, beautiful and natural surroundings provide the needed environment that help preserve the solitude of the town’s historic buildings. Mileway Rock Forest contributes to this peaceful environment through providing park benches and walking trials that allow one to leisurely enjoy the beautiful nature, which surrounds Ridgway.
