The state is building a new medium security prison next to the existing Rockview facility. The state prison population has grown by 21 percent since 2001; the state’s department of corrections already has 46,000 inmates in 26 state correctional institutions, a motivational boot camp, and 13 community corrections—run on a budget of $1.64 billion. Cynthia Berger talks with John Kramer about the new prison… and then, The Obama Administration faces tough questions about what to do with the remaining prisoners at Guantanamo and on how to conduct U.S. detention policy in the future. Greg McNeal, an expert on national security law and policy discusses these issues. Patty Satalia discussed the topic with McNeal in the WPSU studios.
