The Cambridge Companion to the Beatles
The Beatles: Pop culture is now an academic subject, and we’ve got a couple of local experts. Patty Satalia talks with two Penn State-Altoona professors, Ken Womack and Jerry Zolten, who contributed to the just-released “Cambridge Companion to The Beatles.”

Great fun to hear this clip that includes the guy who originally “turned me on” to the fab four. Yes, most of my female friends back in 1964 -65 were screaming about the Beatles’ “cuteness”, clothes and mop-top hair, but I was truly compelled to listen to them deeply because my big brother Jerry Zolten said words to the effect that their musicality was the real deal—in spite of our Dad’s mockery—“that ain’t music-that’s just noise”. Thanks Jerry and Ken for shining the light on the Beatles then and now.
