Matt Shaner / Republican

Biography:

Matt ShanerMatt Shaner is committed to lowering taxes, conserving family values, and supporting the national defense. He believes remaining strong and resolute in the War on Terror is essential. He has worked for Senator Rick Santorum on Capitol Hill and served as county chairman for President Bush in 2004.

Shaner is currently president of Shaner Investments Limited Partnership in Centre County, which focuses on hotel development, and is a former board member of the Pennsylvania Tourism and Lodging Association.

Shaner lives with his wife and children in Port Matilda.

We do not know if global climate change is happening. We cannot act until we study it further.

Energy Independence

Congress should provide incentives to support sustainable energy businesses and research, as well as the personal adoption of energy-saving products and practices.

No Child Left Behind

I agree with the law’s goals, but not with its “one-size-fits-all” approach to education that overemphasizes testing and doesn't provide enough money to schools to achieve success. The law should be modified.

Transportation Funding

Lease roads to private entities and abolish the Turnpike Commission.
