Biography:

Derek WalkerDerek Walker believes the 5th District has the potential to attract good, family-sustaining jobs. The founder of Walker Financial Services, which specializes in financial and retirement planning, understands the challenges of living on fixed incomes during periods of high inflation. He is a firm supporter in passing an energy bill that recognizes the importance of alternate fuel sources.

Walker has taught mathematics at the high school and college level, serves on the board of WPSU-TV, and organizes an annual golf tournament to raise money for Clearfield High School.

Walker lives in Bigler, just outside of Clearfield.

Congress should support alternative energy research, such as clean-coal and ethanol projects, and also promote nuclear power and conservation.

No Child Left Behind

I agree with the law’s goals, but not with its “one-size-fits-all” approach to education that overemphasizes testing and doesn't provide enough money to schools to achieve success. The law should be modified.

Transportation Funding

Encourage private funding of state infrastructure projects, in exchange for expedited construction.
